That’s right, y’all! We’ve got the exclusive on ALL the details from last night’s HGTV‘s Restored By The Fords episode from our favorite sister-brother duo, Leanne Ford and Steve Ford. In case you missed the episode, here’s what Leanne has to say about this project…
“This house was a blast to work on! The biggest request from the client was to open the wall between the kitchen and the living room. Though we really didn’t think we could accomplish that on their budget at first, we figured it out! One way to save a bit of money was that we had to keep some vertical supports, so we turned those into a design feature by wrapping them in gorgeous wood. The owners wanted a “lodge style” retreat for their house. So heavy use of wood, concrete and slate helped. They already had a great “stone” style fireplace, but the stone is fake and looked dated, so we white washed it with a couple layers of creme and white paint to brighten it all up! We used slate as a budget and kid friendly floor solution in the kitchen. And our friend Wood N Wrench did custom cabinet fronts that we put on big box store cabinet boxes. We used a concrete skim coat for the walls to add texture, warmth and more natural elements. All walls, baseboard and trim are PPG Silver Feather in Satin. The family had plenty of storage in their pantry and lower cabinets, so we opted for a single shelf in the kitchen to create a simple and serene space.”
