Hi friends!

It’s about that time!! Are you ready for another mini tour of #clientmemyselfandicantmakeupmymind?? Ok…good. On this little tour we’re walking you through the family room…aka our Netflix and Chill zone. It’s where we kick back, hang out, and just RELAX. In case you missed it last week, make sure to check out Part 1 Entryway and Living Room reveal, and Part 2 Kitchen & Dining Nook reveal. Also, to see more of the process, head over to our other posts: Progress Tour 1, Progress Tour 2, and Progress Tour 3!

In addition to our living room, we also have a little family room. It’s situated down a hallway just off the great room and the kitchen and is just as cozy as it looks! So, the family room is where we spend a whole lotta time just hangin out and binging ALL the TV (anyone devour The Queen’s Gambit as fast as we did?!). We wanted everything to feel really approachable and lived-in where you can plop down and read a book or eat a snack while vegging out, and we did that by creating a layered space with really cozy furniture.

Let’s talk about scale for a minute, cuz we went big on a few things in here. First, the sofa. It’s modular with two arm pieces and one middle piece that are all slipcovered and come apart for easy installation. Oh, and did I mention she’s real deep too? 44″ do be exact! There’s also a big ottoman that goes with it…and if you couldn’t tell yet…this room is ALL about comfort!!! Because I know you’ll ask, and I love you all, the sofa is a custom piece from Shoppe Amber Interiors that’s coming soon to the site. What do you think we should call it??

You can also see a peek of our GIANT vintage french baker’s table!!! I snagged that bad boy YEARS ago and hung onto it even though Mike thought I’d never find a spot for it…but it turned out to be the PERFECT entertainment piece. It’s 13 feet long and we had it retrofitted to hide electronics like the unsightly X Box, etc. It literally took 8 people to bring it into the house it’s so heavy!! But I’m IN LOVE with it and so glad I kept it in storage all these years. It’s also the perfect match to balance out the larger scale sofa.

The artwork is a special piece that I commissioned Addie Chapin to make. She’s one of my favorite artists and is just an all around cool lady. The tones in the art are so moody and beautiful and compliment the darker accents in the room so well. This piece is special in more ways than one…we had it made for our wedding anniversary, and Addie inscribed an excerpt from our vows: “I Fear No Fate”, which is from the E.E. Cummings poem “I Carry Your Heart.” Every time I see it I’m reminded of our wedding day and everything we’ve built together as a family…which I truly value above all else.

Ok, back to the furniture. I brought in a ton of vintage here; from the coffee table to the side tables to the leather stool…they’re alllllll vintage. And you know what I’m gonna say…vintage make my heart sing and no space is ever complete without it!! Wear, patina, and age add SO MUCH character to a piece and the overall look and feel of a room, not to mention the vibe. To finish the space and balance the vintage, I brought in the only other contemporary piece to the room: our new Lido Armchairs from Shoppe in Bone Bouclé. The curves on them are so pretty and they make for the coziest accent chairs. So, what do you think? Scroll on down to shop the look!
