Today on All Sorts Of, we’re sharing Amber’s three guiding principles for finding the perfect rug: placement, palette, and performance, featuring the latest from Loloi. 1. Placement
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it for always — Opt for a room-sized rug and make sure at least 2 legs of each furniture piece are sitting on top of it! Beyond that, center the rug in the space and make sure you have 4-6 inches, or more, of flooring peeking out on each side.
2. Palette
Ask yourself, what does this room need!? If it’s falling a little flat, opt for a rug with bolder colors or a busier pattern (Like the Ethel…) Likewise, if things are feeling a bit loud already, opt for a softer pattern or more neutral color scheme (HELLOOOOO Nella!!) to balance things out.
3. Performance
Last, but certainly not least, consider function. Where is the rug going? If a higher traffic area like the living room or entryway, opt for something with a lower pile and durable materials (shameless plug for the Gertrude!) If a lower traffic area, I love a softer style underfoot (may I suggest the Nella!?)
