Let’s start from the beginning! Tell us a little about the journey that led you to where you are now.

My background is in interior design, and after years of working with residential and commercial clients, I realized nearly every project needed custom window coverings — but most people didn’t know where to start. It was always the “forgotten essential.” I developed a passion for designing functional, beautiful treatments, and as I shared my work, the most common question became, “Where did you get the drapery?” That was my aha moment. I saw a real need for a simple, guided way to create custom window treatments — and that’s what led to Everhem.

Before design, I worked in hospitality — both industries taught me the value of great service and working closely with people. That experience helped shape Everhem into a company that feels equal parts expert and approachable — like hiring a designer, with the warmth of five-star service.

In 2019, my husband, Adam, and I co-founded Everhem together. He brought his background in finance and graphic design to the business, helping shape our brand identity, develop the financial model, and build our website. Adam now serves as President and CFO, playing a vital role in growing the company.

I lead Everhem as CEO and Creative Director, staying deeply involved in every aspect of the business. I drive the company’s direction by bringing my design expertise and focus on exceptional customer experience, ensuring we grow while staying true to our core values and aesthetic.

Can you explain the story behind the name of your business, Everhem?

The name Everhem came from a moment of inspiration during a trip to Stockholm, Sweden, just before we launched the business. We stayed at The Ett Hem Hotel, designed by Ilse Crawford — whose work we’ve long admired — and the experience really struck a chord. “Hem” means “home” in Swedish, and the word captured everything we wanted the brand to represent: warmth, intentionality, and a sense of place. It also carried a beautiful double meaning — because all of our products are hand-sewn, the word “hem” naturally tied into craftsmanship and textiles.

We added “ever” to reflect timelessness and the idea that your home — especially the details like window treatments — should feel designed to last. The result was Everhem, a name that blends Scandinavian-inspired coziness with enduring, designer-approved style.

We’re thrilled to carry the Everhem x Amber Lewis Collection exclusively at Shoppe Amber Interiors. Can you share more about the variety of styles in the assortment and what makes each so unique?

The Everhem x Amber Lewis Collection offers a thoughtfully curated range of styles that feel both timeless and approachable. We focused on three core categories — Drapery & Hardware, Roman Shades, and Café Curtains — and within each, we selected the very best fabrics and designs to ensure a seamless blend of function and beauty.

What makes each style unique is how it embodies Amber’s signature aesthetic: lived-in yet refined, warm but polished, effortlessly elevating any space. Every detail is carefully considered, from the texture and weight of the fabrics to the hardware finishes, so that these window treatments feel like an integral, intentional part of the room — not an afterthought.

Window treatments are often overlooked, but they’re key to finishing a room. This collaboration brings together Amber’s design vision and our expertise to create custom, high-quality coverings that add both comfort and sophistication — and truly complete the home.

Everhem has always expertly balanced customization with timeless simplicity. How does this collection stay true to that signature, while introducing those elevated details that make it feel so design-forward?

At Everhem, one of our core anchors is offering a better way to design custom window treatments. It’s more than a tagline — it’s the lens we use to evaluate everything we do. Are we creating something better — whether product or experience — than what’s already out there?

This collection with Amber is a resounding yes to that litmus test. It stays true to our signature balance of customization and simplicity by keeping design at the forefront and the product mix intentionally curated. These pieces could live beautifully in any — or every — room of a home. Everything remains custom (never pre-sized), and through Amber’s creative lens, we’re able to offer her distinct take on fabrics, styles, and finishes.

What makes it all possible is Everhem Connect — our proprietary technology that brings this vision to life. It allows exclusive collections like this one to be delivered seamlessly, while still giving customers the ease and flexibility of designing something bespoke.

The result is a collaboration that brings a fresh take on designing custom window treatments.

Between running a growing business, leading a team, and raising a family, you’re balancing so much with such grace. Tell us what a typical day-in-the-life looks like for you.

My days are definitely full — but I truly love what I do, and that keeps me going. Mornings start with getting the kids ready and out the door, which honestly feels like a marathon.

After the kids are out the door and off to school, I dive into work — sometimes it’s a meeting, sometimes I’m in my home office, or running to a quick appointment. The next several hours are a constant rhythm of Slack, email, texts, and social media — anything and everything Everhem. I love what I do, and staying connected to the business truly fuels me.

Once the kids are home and the day winds down, it’s pencils down. That time is special — snuggling, reading books, or just being together as a family. It’s a juggle, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

6

How do you find balance through it all?

I’m a true believer in drawing a clear line between work and home life — even though that’s easier said than done. My husband is also my business partner, and we have Everhem window treatments on every window of our house, so the worlds definitely blend! But we really do try to work normal hours. When our kids are home in the evening, we’re intentional about being present with them, especially during that sacred window between dinner and bedtime. It’s not always easy — emails, Slack messages, and texts are always just a tap away — but we do our best to unplug.

Having three kids — an 8-year-old son and identical twin girls who are about to turn 5 — definitely feels like having two full-time jobs. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but I often remind myself that this is the best part of life. I want to be present for it and not let it rush by in a blur of to-do lists.

One of the greatest gifts of owning my own business is the flexibility. I get to drop my kids off at school and be home when they return. That kind of freedom is rare, and I’m so grateful for it. I’m also able to balance it all because I’ve built an incredible (small, but mighty!) team. They allow me to show up for both work and family.

On top of all of that, I live with type 1 diabetes, which I often refer to as my other full-time job. It’s constant. But honestly, it’s one of the biggest motivations behind my entrepreneurial spirit. It’s made me resilient. I’ve had to prove to myself that nothing, not even a lifelong disease, can hold me back. That mindset carries over into every part of my life.

7

What does leadership mean to you, and what advice would you offer other women entrepreneurs carving their own path?

To me, leadership starts with an idea, believing in it, running with it, and refusing to let anyone stop you. From there, it’s about building a team that shares your vision, becoming believers themselves, and works together to grow and scale the idea. My advice to women entrepreneurs is simple: trust your instincts, stay persistent, and surround yourself with people who elevate your vision.

8

Window treatments are often one of the last elements people consider in a space, but we all know how they can completely transform a room! How do you hope your work continues to shape the industry and inspire others?

I like to say that window treatments are the “forgotten essential.” At Everhem, we’re changing that perception, showing that window treatments are just as important as a sofa or a rug in completing a space. I hope our work inspires people to reconsider their surroundings and empowers them to transform their homes, one window at a time.

9

Looking ahead, what’s next for you and for Everhem? What impact are you most proud of, and where do you hope to grow?

I’m focused on building a brand, not just another window treatment company. For me, home is incredibly important, surrounding yourself with beautiful, thoughtful design impacts your mood and how you feel. I want Everhem to help people create that feeling in their own spaces. I’m most proud of the way we’re building this business: steady, intentional, and thoughtful.

Moving forward, I hope to continue growing Everhem into a brand that’s synonymous with home, where window treatments are not just an afterthought, but the design element everyone turns to.
