Client….We Still Need a Hashtag Pt. 2: Demo!!!

Hey everyone!! I wanted to share another update with my new home….still working on the hashtag, but I’ve got a lot goin’ on right now so it’ll have to wait.

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve entered into and are now deeeeep in demo land. I won’t get into the nitty gritty of it all here, but let me tell you I have gained a LOT more knowledge on permits, HOAs, and all sorts of other bumps in the road you can encounter when you’re just trying to get started on beautifying your new home and party barn!!!

While we got started a bit later than I would’ve liked, I’m loving seeing these spaces from a fresh perspective to help me bring my vision together more clearly. For a lil’ video walk through, check out my latest IG vid

AND, in case ya missed it, my new home is going to be the Sunset Idea House!!! Sunset is a publication I’ve always admired, and it has a special place in my heart as a Cali local. When I was just starting out in this world of design, my grandpa said to me, “If you’re in Sunset Magazine, you’ve made it.” That comment stuck with me, so it’s an added level of nostalgia and made complete sense when the opportunity came to feature my home with this heritage brand.

Anyway, back to the house!! I came by to meet with the team….we talked about plans and took about a million measurements for So. Many. Things. One massive change will be the new windows and doors from Marvin. Having worked with them before, I know they have the collections and quality I love, and they will really be a focal point for the home. I can’t wait to share more about the beautiful details we’re including and how it brings my design to life… like my new fave, an Ogee Sash Lug. Rolls off the tongue!! I’m also going to include Croft for the window hardware, and in a few other places – their stuff is gorg.

The kitchen may be a hot mess right now, but I’m adding a stunning Lacanche range, a piece that I’ve had in projects and my own home in the past…this time I’m going with a color that will complement the custom millwork and other finishes. For the sink, and because there are really so many sinks throughout, it’ll be a lot of ROHL and Shaws….both from House of Rohl. Loving all things Perrin & Rowe for plumbing fixtures, but still working on finalizing those…with all the elements that go into it, I could talk about sinks, fixtures, and tubs for DAYS. So much more to come!!

To know me, is to know I love a hardwood floor. Getting this right is sooo important and I’m cookin’ up something truly special with my friends at Exquisite Surfaces. Sample sneak peek you say??? Okay, here’s a little hint about what we’re working on….

While we’re in this room, peep the fireplaces. While they don’t look like much right now, I have some one of a kind vintage stone mantles coming in from Ancient Surfaces.

I often go on about the importance of lighting, and while this space has ample natural light, we’re going to install some architectural lighting from my pals at Visual Comfort (ofc!). It was a no-brainer to move forward with them for this part of the home, and I’ll circle back when we install about why I chose what I did and some tips for picking architectural lighting for your home.

Anywho, while all these details are coming together in my mind, I love sharing and can’t wait for you to see how this all starts to take shape. I’m going to share more updates soon on demo and plans for the exterior – and who could forget the party barn?! Okay gotta get back to it!! Love ya, BYE!!!
