1. Find your Foundation
When choosing a rug for your bedroom, opt for a timeless texture, neutral color palette, and understated pattern that will compliment your bedding without overwhelming the space.
Tip: Place your rug 8-10 inches past the head of the bed and let a decent amount run past the foot of the bed for optimal placement.
2. Bring in the Furniture
Choose high-quality furniture that brings a sense of ease and balance to your space. Try pairing a darker wood bed frame with a burl wood nightstand. We love how the wood tones and contrasting silhouettes of the Greta Bed and Norton Nightstand play off each other — thoughtfully cohesive, without feeling too matchy-matchy.

3. Choose your Bedding Base
Now that you’ve laid the foundation of your space with a rug and furniture pieces, it’s time to establish the color story with a coverlet. Let this layer guide the rest of your palette — think bright, neutral tones and soft, sun-drenched fabrics. In this room, we opted for a charming block-printed coverlet, paired with other complimentary, lightweight layers for a curated, yet laid-back feel.
4. Layer, layer, layer!
We suggest layering the foot of the bed with blankets, duvets, and quilts of various patterns and textures. Stick to 2–3 airy layers, starting with the thinnest on the bottom. Try a patterned quilt in a complementary color to your main bedding, a breathable duvet for volume, topped with a soft linen or cotton throw for a luxurious look without the extra warmth.

5. Pick your Pillows
Our favorite part?! Those finishing touches — Add in throw pillows to complete the look. Opt for 2-3 busier pillows that tonally compliment your bedding, and 1-2 smaller, more basic pillows for dimension. Try pairing plaids with muted florals and stripes with block printed patterns.
