Client Greater Than Great

Getting to work with a client for the second time is not only very flattering, but it always makes the whole working experience just that much sweeter. From the first project, you are able to build a certain level of trust, and you get the opportunity to know your clients likes and dislikes. By project two.. the communication is easier, and you instinctively know what will work and what won’t!  Our team at AMBER INTERIORS was lucky enough to work with EMILY CURRENT, who alongside her business partner Meritt Elliott, co-founded THE GREAT. and EMILY + MERITT, on her brand new home in Los Angeles. This is our second project together! There was a lot to be done in a short window of time (doesn’t that always seem to be the case?!), but the team managed to transform the kitchen and powder room in a matter of months. Now, Emily and her family of four are moved in and loving their bright and airy home. We broke down the key design decisions our team made for this transformation below.

We were also lucky enough to spend time with Emily and chat through her design vision, home life and get her advice on all things business. Check out Emily’s Boss Files interview here.

Amber Interiors - Client Greater Than Great - Before
The design team wanted to accomplish a few things:
  • Update cabinetry and paint using Sherwin Williams in “Green Black.”
  • Re-paint walls using Sherwin Williams in “Pure White.”
  • New layout for pantry and refrigerator.
  • Switch out the funky tile.
  • Repurpose the brick.
  • Build custom island
  • Change the floors.

Absolutely love this makeover! Can you provide us a link to the hanging pendant lights from the kitchen??

  • Can you tell us the countertop materials in the kitchen (perimeter and island?) Is it a soapstone (or black marble?) on the perimeter (honed) and a honed calacatta or Imperial Danby on the island? Thanks so much!

I second this question- looking at a kitchen remodel in our home and very drawn to the dark countertops, but equally afraid of spots showing. This seems to do the job, but what was the material and finish?

  • […] the cofounders behind clothing line The Great. Take a look at the finished home below and head to All Sorts Of to see what the space looked like before Lewis got to […]

  • Your kitchens…the stuff of DREAMS AND LEGENDS. Just putting the brick all the way up to the ceiling…what a difference! This is a nerdy designer question…is there a way you could post before and after floor plans? I love seeing plan changes (yes I geek out with drawings, I can not lie). Love this new site, can’t wait to follow along!

Beautiful job! I see that the plumbing/faucet in the powder room is Watermark but are you able to tell us what brand of faucet was used in the kitchen? Thank you!

  • Oh my gosh — madly in love with this entire project. Do you mind sharing the source for that towel bar? It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for our master bathroom. Thank you!

Amazing Amber! Does anyone know who makes the kitchen faucet?
