The holidays may look a little different this year, but we’re still pulling out all the stops to make the season at home feel extra special. From the decor to the playlist and cocktails, we’ve got you covered when it comes to getting festive. Read on for Amber’s holiday decorating tips and tricks to make your home into the holiday retreat you’ve always dreamed of.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Small touches can go a long way to making your space feel festive. Style your surfaces (think mantle, cabinet, side table, etc.!) with accents like taper candles, rustic bells, greenery, and miniature trees to instantly create a holiday feel. The little things add up to create a tasteful winter wonderland in no time.

CONSIDER COLOR & TEXTURE

Rather than going over the top with strictly seasonal décor, consider everyday pieces you already own, but in heavier textures and a moodier color palette reminiscent of winter. Think rust-toned textiles, vintage terracotta vessels, woven accents, and luxe mohair throws to bring in the spirit season. Individual items like these can be styled and restyled all year long.

BRING THE OUTDOORS IN

Garlands, wreaths, and greenery are your best friends when it comes to decorating for the holidays. Not only do they smell incredible, but they look beautiful and make a considerable impact in every space. Think outside the box and place greenery in unexpected places—like a wreath in the kitchen or a garland on the table or framing a doorway. Stop by your local flower market and look for single varietal bushels in festive color ways and unique garlands in eucalyptus or magnolia leaves. Pro tip: ask your local florist for wreaths with dried flowers for a longer lasting option!

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

It’s the little things that make all the difference. Once you’ve decorated, take a step back and consider the small details that add up to make an impact. A beaded garland here or twinkle lights there won’t go unnoticed.

TURN UP THE TUNES

Now that you’ve decorated your space visually, it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. There’s no better way to get into the spirit of things than cueing up the jams…and don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a holiday playlist for you on Spotify!
