Taking risks in interior design and styling is a foundational pillar of Amber Lewis’ work. She’s constantly looking for ways to make homes and spaces feel more personalized for her clients, while simultaneously staying true to her design ethos and setting trends as she moves through each project. While there is no exact formula she follows, we wanted to share a little of Amber’s process behind one of her favorite ways to bring character into a space: Velvet. While this may feel like a bold and intimidating choice for your own home, Shoppe Amber Interiors has designed beautiful and neutral velvet pieces that can elevate your space while also making it feel cozy and inviting. Without further ado, we’re sharing our tips and tricks for incorporating this fabric into your home with ease…

  1. Choose a velvet piece in an agreeable color for your space. Perhaps you design a space around a cohesive or complimentary color palette to guide you as you make product selections. From bold colors to neutral hues, Shoppe Amber Interiors has products for every palette.
  2. Vary the types of velvet pieces in your space. Incorporating velvet into your space can be as big as a sofa or as small as a bed blanket. While incorporating large furniture pieces makes the textures pop, try incorporating smaller pieces that can make the large furniture pieces feel cohesive.
  3. Incorporate other fabrics and materials throughout your home. Mixing and matching textures is what makes a space feel both cozy and dynamic. This is the beauty of every line designed at Shoppe Amber Interiors — With so many kinds of different fabrics to choose from, they all work together and become an art isolated, and combined. Try pairing your new velvet piece with a mudcloth pillow or a wool throw blanket.

Good news! Shoppe Amber Interiors just released two all-new velvet fabrics that you’re going to love. Check out the Fawn Collection and the Bark Collection. These new velvet fabrics are a neutral, yet bold, starting place if you’re looking to incorporate velvet into your space.
