Meet Rebecca Faria, founder and practitioner of Detox by Rebecca, a wellness spa focusing on lymphatic drainage massage. Rebecca began her career in Brazil, starting in her grandmother’s room, and earning a Master’s Degree in Body Aesthetics. In 2018, she moved to Los Angeles introducing and popularizing Brazilian lymphatic drainage techniques in LA and beyond.
With over a decade of mastering technique, she developed her own method, combining modern and traditional practices that detoxify and contour the body. With her signature method, she eventually opened her own highly regarded spa. We’re honored to sit down with her today on the blog to chat all things integrative wellness and lymphatic health. So without further ado….

How would you describe your philosophy surrounding holistic health? How do you seek to incorporate these beliefs into your daily life and routine?
My philosophy is centered on the idea that true wellness isn’t just about looking good, it’s about feeling good. Beauty happens naturally. I believe in the connection between mind, body, and spirit. That’s why I combine beauty, health, and wellness in my treatments. I prioritize a balanced, holistic approach that focuses on detoxifying the body, strengthening the immune system, and promoting vitality. I incorporate these beliefs into my own life by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying mindful of my diet, moving my body, creating healthy habits, and regularly practicing self-care, just as I encourage my clients to do!

You’ve played a key role in popularizing Brazilian lymphatic drainage techniques in Los Angeles and beyond. How do you balance staying true to the traditional nature of these methods while also adapting them to meet the demands of the modern wellness world?
I believe in respecting the tradition of lymphatic drainage because it’s such a powerful, time-tested technique. At the same time, I know that wellness is always evolving, and it’s important to stay aware and open to new technologies and methods. While I will always respect the fundamentals of traditional lymphatic drainage, I do incorporate different pressures and strokes to make the treatment I offer even more effective, for example. I also use modern machines and tools in my spa, but I make sure they complement the traditional approach, instead of replacing it. The key to balancing the two is understanding my clients’ needs and customizing each treatment to them. This way I can offer the best of both worlds, combining tradition and modern wellness to help my clients feel their absolute best.

What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage?
What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage?
The lymphatic system works in harmony with all the other systems in the body. It is responsible for removing toxins and harmful agents, keeping us healthy and supporting our well-being. A healthy lymphatic system helps maintain a strong immune system, a well-functioning digestive system, healthy circulation, and much more. Lymphatic drainage is responsible for clearing out the toxins that make us feel sluggish. The results of lymphatic treatment are not just improved health but can also contribute to noticeable improvements to your appearance.

You have a Master’s degree in integrative wellness and over a decade of experience in lymphatic drainage massage. How would you describe the way that your current approach blends and transforms the two?
My approach is focused on finding the root cause of my clients’ problems, whether it’s bloating, swelling, extreme fatigue, or something else. I help them clear out their system through my massage technique and then guide them toward habits that support their natural healing process. My years of study and practice have shown me that each of us is different, each body is unique, and we need to pay close attention to what the body is telling us. By blending my education and experience, I am able to offer a treatment that not only addresses the symptoms but also helps improve health and looks through the long-term.

Your business, Detox by Rebecca, helps patients feel and look their best. How would you describe the role aesthetics play in the larger conversation surrounding health and wellness?
Your business, Detox by Rebecca, helps patients feel and look their best. How would you describe the role aesthetics play in the larger conversation surrounding health and wellness?
Aesthetics are an important aspect of wellness, but they’re just one piece of the bigger picture. If someone doesn’t have healthy routines and is overloaded with toxins, constantly exposed to pollutants, bacteria, and viruses, it’s natural that they won’t feel or look their best. They might feel tired, experience digestive issues, have skin breakouts, or feel bloated. But, when someone takes care of their health by moving their body, eating nourishing foods, and supporting their body’s natural detox process through practices like lymphatic drainage, they are set up to succeed. Healthy habits can help give you more energy, boost your metabolism, and prevent skin issues. When your body is working well on the inside, it shows on the outside. That’s the true connection between feeling well and looking well, and it’s what supports long-term health and beauty.

Tell us what a typical day-in-the-life looks like for you.
Tell us what a typical day-in-the-life looks like for you.
I like to wake up early and start my morning routine, which helps me set a positive tone for the day. I brush my teeth, scrape my tongue, and drink a big glass of room temperature water to kickstart my metabolism. Then, I drink a cup of lymphatic cleanse tea to prepare my system for the day ahead. If I’m feeling puffy from the night before, I do a quick facial lymphatic massage to refresh my face. Then, I have breakfast with my family, enjoy my coffee, and head off to work.
Most of my day is spent seeing clients at the spa, but when I’m not with clients, I’m creating videos for social media, writing blog posts, or researching and planning for things ahead. I make sure I exercise every day, which I truly enjoy. Some days it’s a gym session, and other days it’s just a 15 minute walk. As long as I’m moving my body, I’m happy. In the evening, I write down my goals for the next day and disconnect from work. Spending quality time with my family is very important to me. We have dinner together, play with the kids, and then I start my nighttime routine.
It includes a relaxing shower, doing the legs-up-the-wall pose to drain any fluid stuck in my legs, and drinking my nighttime lymphatic cleanse tea to wind down for a peaceful night’s sleep. I also make sure to turn off all bright lights and instead use red light bulbs in my bedroom, which supports melatonin production, unlike bright lights that block it.

How do you seek to incorporate balance in your life?
Finding balance can be difficult at times, but I don’t believe balance is about being perfect. I focus on taking care of my mind, body, and spirit always. I make time for my family, clients, friends, and also for myself. Of course, sometimes it’s not easy to stick to my gym routine or my diet perfectly, but that’s okay.
Balance means putting your best effort into being your best self. It’s about staying committed to your well-being, even if there are moments when you miss a workout or “cheat” on your diet. As long as I am dedicated to taking care of myself, balance naturally follows. My morning and evening routines help me start and end my day in a peaceful way. I try to be present in each and every moment.

What’s next for you and your brand? How do you hope to see the impact of your work take form?
My goal is to keep expanding Detox by Rebecca so we can bring the benefits of lymphatic drainage to more people, not just in the United States, but around the world. I want to see lymphatic drainage become as widely accepted and practiced around the globe as it is in Brazil. This technique has already helped so many, and I want more people to experience those positive changes.
A big part of this vision is training more therapists. By teaching others my techniques, I can make sure the benefits of lymphatic drainage reach even more people. I want to build a strong network of professionals who share the same mission, and it’s important to me that they are equipped with the knowledge to offer the best possible care to their clients.
In addition to growing the spa and training therapists, I’m also developing a new product line. This line will offer high-quality tools for people to practice lymphatic drainage at home. I want to make lymphatic drainage accessible to everyone, whether they can come to the spa or not. With these products, people can continue their wellness journey and support their health from the comfort of their own homes.
I am deeply passionate about helping people feel their best, and I know this practice can have a lasting positive impact on their lives. Through the growth of my brand and the education of others, I hope to create a community where lymphatic drainage is a common practice that supports both beauty and health.

How do you prioritize the well-being of your body and mind in times of stress or anxiety?
When dealing with stress or anxiety, I try to ground myself. Whether it’s going for a walk, going to the gym, or taking a self-care break, clearing my mind helps me focus on solutions instead of getting stuck in the problems.
I’ve also learned to separate my problems into categories. It’s a system that’s really helped me throughout the years, especially as my business grew and my responsibilities increased. The first category is for things I can’t control. For anxieties in this category, I have to remind myself that if there’s nothing I can do to fix it, there’s no point in dwelling on it. Letting go of what’s out of my hands has saved me a lot of unnecessary stress.
The second category is for things I can do something about. I organize them by urgency, brainstorm solutions, and take action based on what makes the most sense. Breaking things down this way helps me see things clearer and feel more in control and focused.
The wildfires in LA are devastating. My family and I are fortunate to be safe, but I saw many close friends and dear clients lose everything. For a moment, I felt helpless, like there was nothing I could do. But then I realized that while I couldn’t change what had happened, there were ways I could show up and support my community during such a tough time. My team and I quickly organized a way to offer free treatments for those who needed it most, to help them cope and support their health. Not only were we able to give people some relief, but my team and I also felt a deep sense of hope and connection to our community.
In the end, moments like these remind me that even when things are beyond our control, we always have the power to choose how we show up for ourselves and the ones we love. It’s about finding what we can do.
